Situation:
Cox Communications has a strong brand and a rich legacy, but with continued growth and hiring, there was an opportunity to strengthen how new hires connect with the company’s mission, values, and services. Creating an engaging and consistent onboarding experience would ensure employees feel inspired and aligned from the start.
Task:
Design a learning module that introduces new hires and job seekers to Cox Communications in a way that is both informative and emotionally resonant—highlighting the company’s purpose, values, and impact.
Action:
Using the ADDIE model, I approached this project with a clear focus on creating an inspiring and inclusive experience for new hires at Cox Communications.
Result:
The final module delivered a cohesive, visually branded experience that can be used to engage and orient new team members from day one—reinforcing Cox’s values and building early connection with its culture and mission.
ADDIE:
Analyze: I researched the company’s brand voice, values, and culture by exploring the Cox website, watching company videos on YouTube, and reviewing public-facing media to better understand how to align the training with the Cox identity.
Design: I outlined learning objectives and mapped out the course flow using Gagné’s Nine Events of Instruction to ensure learner engagement and retention. I also collaborated with generative AI to brainstorm personas, refine the objectives, and design the end-of-course survey.
Develop: I used Rise and Storyline 360 to build the course, incorporating visuals from Adobe Stock, Canva, and the Cox website to create a cohesive and realistic aesthetic. The attention-grabbing opening video was crafted to capture the essence of the provided script and set an emotional tone.
Implementation: Although outside the scope of this sample, the course is structured for seamless deployment on an LMS.
Evaluate: I embedded a survey to gather learner feedback and ensure continuous improvement. This process allowed me to blend instructional strategy with creativity to deliver a polished, purpose-driven learning experience.
